The Art of the Dream Kitchen: How GJK’s Designers Imagine Their Perfect Space
Every homeowner imagines their dream kitchen as a space filled with light, warmth, and moments shared with family and friends. But what happens when the designers get to dream for themselves?
When GJK’s creative team – Jadrien Masecchia, Julia Foley, and Taylor Wentz – were challenged to design their own dream kitchens, they approached it the way they do every client project: with imagination, intention, and an eye toward how people truly live.
The result is a trio of stunningly different spaces – one architectural and serene, one timeless and functional, one daring and bold. Together, they reveal the artistry and collaboration that define GJK’s design-build process.

Jadrien: Light, Symmetry, and Timeless Comfort
Architectural Designer Jadrien Masecchia envisioned his dream kitchen as a sanctuary of symmetry and light – a grand yet inviting space where every line feels intentional.
“I wanted something spacious and full of light,” he said. “That was my starting point.”
Sunlight streams through generous windows and skylights, washing over reeded white oak accents on the hood and a wood-paneled ceiling that adds natural warmth to crisp architectural lines. At the center sits a round island that serves as a sculptural focal point and a gathering space, inviting connection.
“You can fit six or eight people around it,” Jadrien explained. “It’s where family can talk, work, or just be together. It’s the true heart of the home.”
His design bridges eras – luxurious traditional details paired with contemporary restraint – resulting in a kitchen that feels timeless and balanced. “Charlotte design often rides the line between traditional and modern,” he said. “That’s where my own style lives – refined, but still comfortable.”

Julia: Function Meets Luxury in Every Detail
For Interior Designer Julia Foley, a dream kitchen is where function and beauty intertwine effortlessly.
“I wanted it to be the true heart of the home – warm, functional, and timeless,” she said.
Her vision pairs soft, off-white perimeter cabinets with dark quartzite countertops and a contrasting white oak island. A Casa Blanca stone wall behind the window adds quiet texture and a sense of permanence. Every element feels intentional, from stacked wall cabinets for maximum storage to hidden walk-in pantry doors that blend seamlessly with the cabinetry.
Inside that pantry, Julia allowed herself a playful moment: a warm pop of color and a built-in wine dispenser alongside a full-height wine fridge – equal parts practicality and indulgence.
And then there’s the feature that steals every pet owner’s heart: the built-in dog-bowl station with its own pot filler. “If you’re spending that much on a gorgeous kitchen,” she laughed, “why not make a little spot for the dog too?”
Julia’s approach is all about thoughtful order. “I like everything to have its place,” she said. “When your space is organized, it’s easier to enjoy it.”
Her belief mirrors what many homeowners feel – that the most beautiful kitchens are those designed for real life.

Taylor: Bold Design with Heart and Energy
For Taylor Wentz, design is meant to be felt. Her dream kitchen bursts with personality, featuring an eclectic mix of mid-century modern style and warm luxury, designed for connection, creativity, and joy.
“This kitchen is a true reflection of my personal style,” she said. “I love color, pattern, and gold everything.”
The show-stopping centerpiece is a Provence-blue La Cornue range, its soft hue echoed by a Calacatta Viola marble island veined with violet and cream. Overhead, a living plant canopy and a dramatic skylight bathe the space in natural light, a nod to Taylor’s love of biophilic design.
Custom details abound: a wood-fired pizza oven, paneled Sub-Zero fridge, built-in espresso machine, and lounge seating that invites guests to linger. “I wanted a kitchen that feels alive,” she said. “It’s about the energy and the warmth, the light, the people gathered in it.”
While many clients in Charlotte lean toward timeless neutrals, Taylor embraced the chance to go bold. “Homeowners often think about resale,” she said. “But this was my chance to design purely for me and to make something joyful.”

Where Styles Collide and Complement
Asked what might happen if their three dream kitchens were combined, the designers laughed.
“Honestly, it might be chaos,” Jadrien joked. “Our styles are so different.”
Taylor imagined something unexpected: “Maybe a modern English-country hybrid that includes their classic details with my color and texture.” Julia smiled and admitted she’d probably tone it down a notch but loved the idea of mixing personalities.
Their playful banter underscores what makes GJK’s team unique: the ability to draw from different perspectives while maintaining a shared design language.
“We each bring something different,” Jadrien said. “We bounce ideas off one another all the time. That collaboration always leads to better design.”
Dreams That Inspire Reality
These dream kitchens may live on paper (for now), but they embody what drives every GJK kitchen remodeling project: creativity, craftsmanship, and connection.
Each designer’s vision reflects a different way of living – from the serene balance of Jadrien’s light-filled retreat to Julia’s seamless functionality to Taylor’s bold celebration of color and life.
“A dream kitchen should reflect how you live,” Julia said, “not just how it looks.”
At GJK, that philosophy guides the entire design-build process. Whether your dream kitchen is calm and classic, elegantly functional, or full of daring personality, our team brings the expertise and imagination to make it real … and give you a Life Remodeled.
