GJK Remodeling's Design Build Process

Above is a sample of how our talented designers work.
  • Step 1: Fill Out Our Contact Us Form

Complete the form on our contact us page. This is the initial step in sharing with us your home remodeling project.

  • Step 2: Phone Consultation

Once we receive and review your contact form, we will follow up with you via phone to discuss what you have in mind for your home. If we mutually agree to move ahead, we will set up an appointment for Gary to visit your home for a complimentary on-site consultation.

  • Step 3: On-Site Visit

Once Gary arrives at your home, he takes a look and asks questions about what you want for your space. This helps him understand your style and what types of finishes and features you prefer. He will use this information to develop a detailed proposal.

  • Step 4: Detailed Proposal

Once you’ve decided to move forward, we schedule a return visit to take measurements and photos, and provide you with a short questionnaire to complete that will allow us to arrange to collect payment for our time to create a detailed proposal. This proposal will include allowances for key features (such as countertops, plumbing fixtures, and lighting) and will be your exact price for the project.

  • Step 5: Sign the Contract

Once we have outlined the project scope with you (in the proposal), it will be time for you to sign the contract. During that time, we will collect a deposit on your project to order materials and get started.

  • Step 6: Second Site Visit

We will arrange to visit your home again, this time with your designer. This allows you to meet the designer that will be working on your project and allow them to see the space. This informal meeting will allow you to discuss with your designer the ideas you wish to bring your dream space to life.

  • Step 7: Select Cabinetry

If your home remodeling project includes cabinetry, you’ll visit our showroom to select those with your designer. We want to be sure to place this order early in the process so your cabinets are here when we are ready to install.

  • Step 8: Finalizing Design and Renderings

Design and selections go hand in hand. You will visit our showroom and work with the designer to fine-tune the design and make selections along the way.

    • Don’t know what style or color of kitchen cabinets you want?
    • Want to see one wall of your bathroom with wallpaper?
    • Trying to decide between oil-rubbed bronze or brushed brass for the knobs and pulls on your deep blue cabinets?

No problem! The designer can show you in a 3-D rendering on our large HDTV what each option looks like so you can make your selections with confidence. Our showroom also allows you to view and touch multiple cabinet colors and door styles, cabinet accessory features, countertops, door hardware, faucets, tiles, and more!

  • Step 9: Schedule Your Project

After the details of your project have been finalized, we’ll schedule your project start date. We will provide you with enough time to pack away all the items that you currently have in the space to be stored while we complete the work on your project.

  • Step 10: Pre-Job Walk-Through

About two weeks before your project begins, we’ll schedule a walk-through with you. This allows us to set expectations for the project and answer any questions you have as your remodeling project nears.

  • Step 11: Construction & Progress Updates

This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! It is during this step that you begin to see your new space take shape. For many homeowners, remodeling can be an emotional experience - with highs and lows. This is normal!

You will receive a weekly email from us (typically on Friday). It will contain an update about what was completed that week, and what to expect the following week. It will also include your weekly invoice.

  • Step 12: Post-Job Walk Through

Once the project is complete, we’ll do a walk-through with you to “reveal” your new space. You will also be introduced to all of the new features or gadgets that were a part of your renovation so you can become familiar with them and understand how to maintain them.

  • Step 13: Our Warranty and Commitment

After the post-job walk-through, we’ll provide you with a written warranty. It is a one-year “wall-to-wall” warranty to give you peace of mind that your project was done right the first time. But even more importantly, we are committed to you. If you run into any issues or have questions about your newly remodeled space, you should contact us.

  • Step 14: Photography

Our enthusiasm for design build shows in every project we complete, which is why we may ask that you allow us to photograph your new space. Our office team will work with you to determine a convenient time for our photographer to visit your newly-remodeled space.
